Pickleball Rules & Regulations

League Rules

  • Teams must submit team name upon registration.
  • Beginner and Intermediate League Games will be played in the evenings with the first game starting at 6pm
  • Senior League Games will be played in the morning with the first game starting at 10am.
  • The league is 6 weeks followed by a playoff.
  • Intermediate and Beginner League teams will play 2 games/week, while the senior league will play 4 games/week.
  • Players must be at least 16 years of age in Intermediate and Beginner Leagues
    • Any player under the age of 18 must have a parent/guardian signature on the waiver.
  • Players in the Senior League must be at least 55 years of age.
  • Weekly substitutions are allowed if agreed upon by the League Director, and all other players in the league.
  • A player cannot be on more than 1 roster.
  • The deadline to make roster changes is 1 week (7 Days) prior to the beginning of the league. If the league is scheduled to begin on January 10th, the deadline to make a roster change would be 11:59 on January 3rd.
  • The playoff bracket is dependent on the number of teams in the league.
  • A player must play in at least 3 of a team’s regular season games to qualify for the playoffs.
  • A Team must be paid in full before the registration deadline.
  • No Refunds will be given if a team cancels their registration after the registration deadline.
  • Players are permitted to switch teams if every team captain agrees to the switch. There is no majority vote, every team captain must agree to the switch.
  • Players who want to switch teams must formally submit a request to the league manager.
  • The league schedule will be sent out at least 2 days prior to the scheduled start date of the league.
  • League Standings and statistics will be kept.
  • Players must keep their belongings off the courts. Narrow Valley Sportsplex has lockers and benches for personal belongings.
  • Players should be aware of the Narrow Valley Sportsplex pickleball court rule list and not violate the rules.
  • Games will be played at 4 courts at a time.

 

GAME PLAY

  • Games are 3 matches, first 2 matches are to 11 points, and the 3rd match to 15 points if necessary.
  • The first possession of the game will be decided by who is the home team.
  • Games are to follow USA Pickleball Rules, which are posted at all 4 courts. See the rule sheet for any discrepancies.
    • USA Pickleball Rules are also available online for any player to view.
  • Each game will be officiated by a Narrow Valley Sportsplex Pickleball Instructor or League Director to ensure the safety and sportsmanship of all participants.
  • Games will be forfeited if a team doesn’t have enough players or doesn’t show up within 10 minutes after a game’s scheduled start time.
    • Substitutions are allowed if agreed upon by League Director, Pickleball Instructors, and all other players in the league.
  • A forfeited game will result in a final score of 22-0.

 

POST GAME?

  • Team captains from both teams will sign a scorecard containing the correct game score and submit it to the League Director.
  • Scorecards are kept by the League Director / Pickleball Instructor during the games.

SPORTSMANSHIP

  • Unsportsmanlike conduct will not be tolerated.
  • Any behavior that is deemed violent, harassing, and/or inappropriate in any way, as witnessed by the referee, or tournament staff, will result in the appropriate penalties and disciplinary actions being taken.
  • Tournament organizers reserve the right to end a game at any point if the overall sportsmanship is out of line.
Captains are to be the team liaison to discuss any call or rule with an official or tournament organizer during game play.
